Welcome to Northern Culture! This blog is dedicated to exploring the diverse visual and material cultural landscape of contemporary Northern Britain with a special focus on the North East and Scotland. It serves as a working document for my PhD studies into the wilds of this vast yet largely unchartered academic field. Its aims are to uncover recent signifiers of so-called “Northernness” from all cultural domains, including music, food, and the visual arts.
